The Kankuama mochila is the traditional handicraft of the Kankuama indigenous culture, woven using an ancestral technique that has been passed from mothers to daugthers. The mochilas are made in fique, a natural fiber obtained from the plant Furcraea bedinghausii. The Kankuama women grow this plant and collect the leaves to obtain fine threads. To add some color to the bags, the threads are dyed using natural dyes and then hand woven by the artisans.
Our advice: the type of weave makes it a very light bag, ideal to be worn over the shoulder in your day to day.
